I was born in Gijón in February 1981. A month later, I was already in a Madrid hospital, undergoing open-heart surgery. One month old, and I almost didn't make it. We're starting strong.
My father was a keyboardist. I grew up surrounded by music without fully realising it. At fourteen I picked up the guitar — classical technique, harmony, Berklee methods, all of it mixed with flamenco, jazz, rock and whatever else I could get my hands on. At sixteen I asked for a tube amplifier. My father came back with a four-track cassette recorder. I hated it at first. Years later I understood that mix-up changed everything.
By nineteen I was performing over 120 shows a year, building the kind of discipline and adaptability that no classroom teaches. I started working as a studio guitarist while studying at the Conservatory — until audio engineering crossed my path and I left both behind. As a born hustler, I never finished either. What I did do was start working across Madrid studios as a guitarist, engineer and producer.
In 2004 I played alongside Bob Moog on his last visit to Spain, endorsing his Moogerfooger pedals. We appeared in a documentary, performed at SONAR, and that night I called my father — who had known the Moog name since the late '60s — to tell him he could watch me on the national news, playing next to the man himself. Full circle doesn't even cover it.
After Madrid, I moved to London in 2009, where my own production projects earned several award nominations. In 2014 I shifted focus to online mixing and mastering, and since then I've worked with artists from five continents.
